Default Good point..

Ok I hate to say it... from a kPPI perspective the price is a little steep. i.e. You are right the HD looks like a bargain. For some strange reason I am attracted to this Kingpin Tour MSRP $17,999 MSRP - CA $18,249 vs HD what? Road King? Geezer Glide? Defintely like the looks of the Victory..

Default Victory Gets It Right (but leaves the first attempt wrong)

Okay, I'm not a cruiser guy, but I am interested in most motorcycles, even if I don't have a desire to own some of them. And I certainly don't have anything against Victory.

So I skip over to MO to see this piece about the new Victory Hammer S. I know that the Hammer was fairly seriously corner-challenged, so I think it might be interesting to find out how Victory uprated suspension or tinkered with geometry, somehow attoned for that ridiculous rear tire, and maybe changed a few other details here and there to justify the extra two grand it's going to cost.

At first, the account of the transformed handling has me impressed.

When I find out it's apparently the result of a simple handlebar change, I'm much less so.

More than anything, It strikes me as odd that the standard Hammer was released with a fairly obvious flaw that could have been mostly solved by simply swapping handlebars. Okay, maybe they didn't know the handlebars were such a problem back then. Now they do. But the original version still has the flawed bar design? Couldn't they at least redesign the "V" bars so they work more like the ones on the S? Sacred form woudn't even have to bend much for function. It's only a handlebar, for christ's sake.

So let's see if I've got this straight: For the inflated pricetag of the S you get different paint and handlebars that actually helps the bike handle acceptably, the way it should have in the first place. And Victory is proud of this?

What a bargain.

So is the engine actually taller or not? Thanks for the geometry lesson, though. You're rad.

The Screamin' Eagle Vrod has the gigantor rear tire but I haven't ridden one and haven't seen a review.

I can't imagine H-D would have released a bike that resisted turning as much as the Hammer.

It was pretty damn scary coming down the back side of Ortega with no guard rails and sheer drops of several hundred feet.

The Screamin Eagle has 240/40-R18 rear tire (Good God almighty)... and the Hammer is 250 40-R18 Dunlop. (Are you kidding me) ..

One of these days you're going to have to sh*t or get off the pot my friend, you've "almost" bought three or four bikes by now while us unimaginative GPTB'ers have all actually bought a few bikes, Me, Longride, buzz, MScuddy even Dr. Serizawa loosened up his wallet and bought a couple.

I personally have had 6 bikes since you've been making your plans...
