Yes and no, The VN and VTX are not to be confused with power cruisers. Marketing and large cc displacement aside, they are heavy and slow handleing bikes. The R III, on the other hand, has handling for a bike that tips in just shy of 800 lbs wet. I have done time on each of these bikes and the R III qualifies for the shootout in my eyes but the other two do not. They are fine rides but power cruiser? I think not. Just because you can hot rod an exsisting model that doesn't mean it's a power cruiser. If I remember right, about 3 yrs ago CW did a PC shootout and the 'Streak won it even though the power numbers from many of the bike were better. Handling makes this class work. Not just the power alone.

I see your point. It would probably wax some of the "power cruisers" in this comparo. But it is still far from the real McCoy. You could put a 600cc 100hp pocket rocket engine in a cruiser frame but it would still not be a power cruiser in my books.

Is it a federal law or something that says all (OK there are a couple of V-4s) cruisers have to be V-twins? I think an engine like the bandit 1200-4 would make a wonderful cruiser engine, maybe "tuned for low & mid-range" if you must. But then, I'm known to be an odd-ball.

Actually, I shared that idea with Triumph. If they re-released the Thunderbird with a 675 motor then you'd really have something cookin'.

Hey y'all, if you were too short on staff to include a couple of glaring omissions from the test, I'd be happy to take ya on on the M109. While its true that the Warrior out turns it, and the footrest position is more tom my liking, the Zook beats its butt everywhere else and especially with styling. C'mon now, you dont make love blindfolded do you? If there is some compelling reason for its exclusion, it would be fair of you to help us know why...! What was written was fair and entertaining but I know you dont send a check for part of your light bill, so I'd kinda like the rest of the story.

I'm still trying to figure out how 4 MOrdiots rode 5 bikes around that loop. Did Buz ride two at once like in those cowboy movies?

Kind of like Magnas used to be? They'd more than keep up with a lot of newer power cruisers.
