Re: Does anyone really buy these things for performance???

What I find the most bizarre about sport bikers is that most of the mods they make actually diminishes performance in the rpm range they’ll be riding at most of the time. The majority of them are more than happy to lose hp at midrange for a few hp at the top, but probably ride at top rpm range only a fraction of the time.

I guess bragging rights is a big thing in crotch rocket land.

I liked the review and the hook-up with Evil vs McQueenn makes the bike choice easy. It sounds like the Triumph is more comfortable and probably gets more miles betweenn fill-ups. It is a pain gassing every 100 miles as you do with the Sporty. I still like the look of the Sportster better, especially in black matt w/o all the chrome and do-dads. The sporster is their best looking model in my eyes. Slim and powerful. Triumph looks nice too; but I don't care for the high pipes.

Sounds about right.

Re: Maintenance Cost?

The whole 2500 thing is such a rip.

Oil inspection?

I can just see the minimum wage parts changers looking at the dipstick saying, "looks good to me."

Ummmmm.. even the 883 has a horsepower and torque edge over the Triumph Scrambler.

Shhhh. Don't tell him that. You might shake the ignorance right out of him.

Good stuff. Still have to go with the GT1000 of the "Retro's" so far. I'd like to see Buell do a 140MPH XLCR Replica.

If a Harley (especially a Shovelhead) won't shake the ignorance out of anyone, nothing will.

So ~THAT'S~ why they don't put any displacement labels on my Ninja 250 :-P

Yeah that cracks me up about the 600's... They must be embarassed 'cause their bikes can only do mid 10's (rolling eyes).

I'd like to see Buell shrink the V-Rod engine, pull 140 RWHP out of it, stick it in a Vincent Black Shadowesque or Manx Norton repli-racer package and sell is for less than $15,000. Then again, I'd like it to stop raining on weekends too.
