You are an angry man!

All I can say is I rode the bike, liked it, and wrote about that. I was not doing an investigative piece on KTM NA. I have many friends with KTMs that enjoy their bikes and don't report too many problems.

If you didn't notice I did point out the lack of FI on the bike and I was critical of that. However, I didn't think it made enough of a functional difference to really make an issue of it.

Rah! Rah! Sis-boom-bah! Go team!

Hey, if the President was a cheerleader, I can be too!

My thoughts exactly I have a DUke 2 no conterst on weight. The 950 is just too fat The Hypermotard or Aprilla 550 will be the bomb

5'11" and 243 on a Lightning XB12.

First day I pulled up at work, mu boss says "Hmm... not what I pictured you on...... would have thought you would have gone with a Fat Boy for the Fat Boy......"

Closest I've come yet to a "Take this job and SHOVE IT" scenario.

I feel ya.

Nice wheelie, Gabe! Great article as well. Orange paint, carbs and the lick-able binders - not a bad combo. A small factory windshield would be a nice touch, though. Keep the breeze tolerable while turning the uninformed into little black dots.

Nice bike, looks great imo. Blaze orange is functional too, as hunters know. Seems like the top end would be way faster than most humans would want to go, given no windshield, so a lighter version in the 400 to 650 cc range might make a lot of sense too. Does the KTM 640 come in a supermoto version?

640 Supermoto

They do have one. They also have a 620 SMC.

They are actually wicked fun, but pretty thumpy and maybe a little out-of-breath for high-speed cruising. Great on a really bumpy, twisty road, though!

You pretty much nailed the review. The bike actually IS that good. I've been commuting on my SM for two months now (25 miles each way in Chicago), and this thing is THE tool for urban traffic. The wind protection is actually pretty good up to 90mph, and the seat is good for about 60+ miles. (Can the 999 say that?). No sore knees, no sore neck, no sore wrists. You have seen the future of street bikes.

Any of you detractors actually RIDDEN one? ... . ... I didn't think so.

AHHH...I wish my Chrome bag (which I otherwise love) had a velcro closure of such fortitude.

In the KTM tests, Supermoto and 950 Adventure, the fuel economy comes out in the mid to high 30 mpg range. Why is that regarded in the 950 Supermoto story as "good" when other bikes with larger displacements are in the mid 40's? I am using mpg figures from last years adventure touring shootout as a point of reference.
