It's an $8K difference in reality:

'06 FJR1300A lists for $13,499 but can be had for $11,999 from several US dealers

'06 K1200GT starts at $18.8K BUT none of those bound for the US in the first wave. ALL K1200GTs in calendar year 2006 are configured with ESA and cruise plus other stuff and START at an MSRP of $20,385. No deals.

Great bike but when you add in the lack of dealers, costly maintenance, questionable servo brakes and a history of rear drive failures being total ignored by BMW, you can have it.

But it looks like a Kawasaki, it must be real fast and real comfortable!

Every time I come to this website, I am surprised by how negative tone of the threads. I can only recall ONE review where most of the comments were positive.

I do not have $20,000 to spend on a motorcycle. But if I did have that money, I might spend it on this machine. It has enough power for a midsized automobile, it will be comfortable, and it will handle better than any bike its size. I admit that some of the electronic gizmos are superfluous, but ABS is wonderful.

I think most people agree with you. The only negative comments are about the fact that it's kinda ugly.

Who's the critic who acclaimed it? Mr Magoo?

That is the most god-awful monstrosity I've ever seen.

I can't believe I totally agree with KP!

What fun would it be if we loved every bike?

As for the Bush/biodiesel/air-cooled/v-twin/inline 4/girlfriend under the bridge/helmet law stuff?

...I would blame KPaul and Burnsie. ;D

I think the vibration-free 'ugly' side panels have something to do with wind tunnel testing, computer matched adjustable windscreen, and NO helmet buffeting or back pressure.
