Dunno. One would think with Victory's impending ownership, KTM must have big plans for the US market.

One would think so. Perhaps the first thing Polaris Industries needs to do is fire the KTM marketing and advertising execs, who are, obviously, PR challenged.

Ratings for the 2006 S2R1000 from the Ducati website are even better than the older 1000cc Monster:

Power* 70 kw - 95 hp @ 8000 rpm

Torque* 9.6 kgm (69.4 lb-ft) @ 6000 rpm

Gotta agree with Longride on the size issue.

Very cool bike - even if the aircooled version has a cleaner look. At least to me.

Tuono is - to me - a full notch more comfy than the Monsters.

More comfy is good. Less comfy is less good.

They said that the whole is less than the sum of the parts...the suspension is too soft for speed and the tires were a bad choice. They picked the BMW first...apparently due to the heated grips.

Re: 2006 Ducati S4Rs

I saw one in Italy back in February, and I have to say that my first impression is still that Ducati is not trying hard enough with the aesthetics. Yes, the wiring is cleaned up a bit, but the rad is HUGE and really sticks out, and WAY out on one side there is this rubber tube attached with a cheap little screw-type hose clamp you could buy at Home Depot. And then there is the overflow bottle, stuck right in the V of the engine like a mechanic left a tupperware in there while eating his lunch. Blech. S2R is much cleaner looking. They didn't have much trouble selling Paul Smart bikes with the Ohlins suspension, so maybe an aircooled 1000 monster with really great bonigers would sell too.

Not sure why they took a step backwards from the 1000S when they designed the suspension for the S2R1000. Rear shock was downgraded.

Not really. He is doing that goofy "hang way off for no reason just to get your knee down" thing, like a British motojournalist. Sorta sad in a way. He's not too big, he is just riding weird.

Re: What's That Smell?

Realy? I haven't seen or heard of any 999s having oil cooler damage (beyond straightening some fins) and they have the same placement cooler and sump.
