all those 4-bangers represent corporate me-tooism Yes I agree with the Boss taken to its highest degree. Kudos to Triumph.

I second the Y didn't they build a triple to begin with?

Default Re: nice work, guys .... BUT

I usally just find the dyno picture in the collection of photos at the bottom of the article and open it up in wallpaper size. Much easier to see.

Would $1000 really get you that much more bike??? No insult intended, but most people could not use that extra power either...(I couldn't)

Default Oh, for cripes sake...

Once and for all, for the displacement fanatics that refuse to recognize that engine capacity is not the be-all, end-all:

Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha 600s: 4 cylinders

Kawasaki ZX-6R: 4 cylinders

Triumph D675: 3 cylinders

That's one less piston, people.

A 600cc triple wouldn't be able to make comparable power to the inline-4s. And it would likely negate any reason to use a triple in the first place.

Is there a law (outside of the race sanctioning bodies) that says we have to ride inline-4s?

The engines all all roughly equal in terms of output. They just get there differently.

And the GSX-R 750 is NOT a middleweight (it's a 750-four banger), so it doesn't belong in this test. However, a test with the 750, the 675 and any other sportbikes for overall goodness would be interesting.

The verdict (at least according to me): The Triumph is NOT a "cheater." It just seems to be the better mousetrap.

Default Thank You!

For reading and subscribing. Sometimes we can't respond to every comment (or we just choose to say nothing if we can't be nice), but we do read 90% of what gets posted and we do try to listen.

The readers make MO!

If they loved the sound the Triumph makes with the stock silencer, wait 'til you hear it with the arrow slip-on accessory silencer. Like I've told folks, "you better be wearin' a condom".... Triples sound simply wicked at full howl!

Well done Trumpet!
