Yeah, could you provide a map? I know a guy in Dahlonega who's always trying to get me to ride there...after this story I've gotta go, it's not too far from Dallas.

Instead of that pathetic lie on the come to Vegas commercials.."what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", why don't they tell it like it is: "Welcome to Vegas- Enjoy Your Hooker!"

Drop into a decent bike shop and look for Hawk Hagebak's book on N GA area "Motorcycle Adventures in the Southern Appalachians".

WOW used to carry it. If not, Whitehorse does.

Hawk is a Cobb Co Motor Cop and a good guy.

Fair warning: Hawk's book really dosen't cover the areas that I was droning about, nor does William Long's "Extreme Twisties- SE USA" nor does the Coyner book...

I suppose you ought to get yerself a cc of DeLorme Gazetteer for GA, AL & TN. (See Bargain Barn in Jasper OR order from Cabela, Whitehorse, etc.) You can see topographically where the roads climb over the ridges. There be some good riding there. AND you can do county roads. Hint: no traffic and light enforcement. Officer Speed snoozes and munches them thar donuts a lot out yonder.

Great article. I live in northeast Alabama and ride in this area frequently. I remember the first time I 'discovered' these mountains after moving to the area. Formerly, 'Georgia' and 'mountains' didn't seem to be two words you'd have in the same sentence. Great place to ride!

The Trail of Tears goes right by my house, and I have ridden in the annual motorcycle ride several times, the whole way to it's end in Waterloo, AL. Lotsa fun, but too many bikes to do anything other than watch the guy's brake light in front of you.

LOL... Did you read the John Kerry book I suggested? The man, Kerry, is a documented and vaiidated war hero, hockey player, ex-prosecutor, Senator, pilot, motorcycle rider, father, husband... etc. vs a failed oilman..W .

Default Manifest Destiny

Look the term up. The southern religious wrong have been up to no good since they trashed the south in the 17th century. They are still trying to impose their will upon everybody. Bush, Cheney and Delay are a three headed serpant. Hard to believe that prick cheney is from nebraska.
