Default Re: Moto Guzzi Griso: Yossef Brings the News Home

I really want to like the Moto Guzzi family. My local ducati/triumph/guzzi dealer had 5 models on the floor today. If the V11 Lemans/Rosso Corsa felt as good as it looks, there would be one in my garage. The red, the pipes the Ohlins, there is something that just gets me all moto goofy just looking at it. I haven't taken one for a test ride because I feel so awkward sitting on one in the showroom.

I hope the Griso & Breva V1100 change all that.

No, really, I like Guzzies. My uncle was a bike cop in LA who had to ride one, so maybe I'm biased a little...

Well guess what I picked up today. Yes! Even got a new helmet. A Moto 3 with goggles seemed a little out of place on this bike.

Hero Blue and it's like riding a locomotive. Man, what a bike. Felt instantly at home. I'm still in shock. Haven't eaten all day, sweaty palms, ear-to-ear grin. The X has me in it's grip.

Excuse me, but I've got to go outside again and stare at it.

Seems like a winner to me, a great balance of what a motorcycle should deliver for those of us who ride for the fun of the ride. I even like the look, for some reason it just screams get on, let's go have some fun. Ain't that why we ride?

Default Just Ride A GUZZI and then we can talk

I think everyone should ride one just once. If the magic doesn't hit you then it wasn't meant to be. I haven't given anybody a test ride on my California that didn't come away very impressed.

I like Guzzis. I rode a Le Mans and was impressed by it. Loudest intake honk of anything I've ridden.

Watching the two videos brought to mind a question I've wondered about the last couple of years. Why are the manufacturers going to digital readout speedometers? Do most buyers actually prefer them over analog dials? I think digital speedometers suck, but then I am still unhappy they've moved the high/low beam switch on cars to the steering column. It belongs on the floor.

I am with you. Pilots of commerical aircraft will prefer simulated anlog guages in digital displays to digtal readouts. I think it gives you a sense of scale i.e. how far am I from the red line or high temp. Also guages are better for a quick glance..... I also agree about the high/low switch. The last thing I want to let go is let go of the steering wheel when I am rounding a curve at night. I think it was one of those "better ideas" from the German luxury cars in the 70s.. At least that is what my dad thinks. Give me floor switch any day.

The USAF did ****pit experiments years ago and concluded that human beings observe and process analog data, like from a dial, more quickly than digital.

The reason the manufacturers are going to digital instruments is simply cost savings. An LCD speedo dial would take up more space and cost more.

Aaah! Lago di Como! I rode those same tunnels 10 years ago. Thanks for the memories!
