Perfect timing! Customs and Border Protection Officers working at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in San Diego have recently been asked to quit parking their motorcycles in the inspection area. What this means is that we are being asked to stop parking in the covered work area where we can keep an eye on the bikes, and start parking them across the street in an unsupervised, semi-secured (you need a securecard to get in but nothing to drive out) parking lot. Being that myself and 3 other co-workers work from midnight to 8 a.m., and being a block away from Mexico, we are resisting this action. Some have decided to not continue riding to work, and I have been warned 4 times and am facing possible disciplinary action.

The bottom line is that I don't feel like management is recognizing the benefit of employees riding their bikes to work and penalizing them unfairly.

I will include a copy of the above article and fact sheet with my "letter of dispute" to the Port Director.

I also suggest you mention something to your appropriate elected representative. Someone needs a pop on the head from above. And what the hell kinda Eddie Murphy name is Otay?

Default No different from any other day here in Arizona

Well, I ride my bike to work every day here in southern Arizona, and ride to work day won't be any different then any other day.

There will be very few bikers out on the road in the 110°F+ heat.

Only the dedicated!!

To you dedicated ones, I'll see you out there, you know who you are!

Using words like dedicated or committed implies that it's some sort of job. You're supposed to want to ride right?

Great,

I'm on a plane at 4:30am. Guess I'll get the Guzzi out Thursday.

Default but this is America

land of the poser. where MCs are perceived by their very owners to be 'toys' or indulgences never to be ridden unless the weather is pleasant no rain in any direction for 200 miles
