Terrific read.

I'd love to see more such articles on different ways to enjoy our bikes. I'm sure there's plenty of goings on that most of us have never heard of.

Well done MO.

Fascinating. I always wondered how one got the job of riding around these things.

FIRST POST TOO!

Damn, 30 seconds too slow - ONLY SECOND POST

I guess those remedial reading lessons didn't pay off after all. Wasn't fast enough to beat someone else on the posts.

Great JOB!

Great job guys!

This is why I keep coming back to you guys day after day and renewing my subsciption year after year.

I throughly enjoyed a look at motorcycling I had never even thought about.

Keep up the great work!!

Yes, nice job. This is a unique article that you wouldn't find anywhere else. I love Fred Rau's writing in Motorcycle Consumer News, and I hope he keeps producing articles for MO.

Interesting article. Thanks MO! Go Lance!

Great View!!!

I was asked to assist in a big international biathlon via a friend who was then a bike mounted highway patrol copper.

Male and female participants wearing Speedo bottoms and numbered race bib tops had a staggered start and swam across Sydney Harbour to the Sydney Opera House, mounted their bikes and pedalled multiple laps around Mrs Macquarie's Chair (a point across from the Opera House) You can't get a much better view of things that that - or so I thought.

I was quite enjoying the close up view of the cute bikini-clad rear ends as they pumped up and down on those little bicycle seats.

In a break I commented on this to my marshall/pillion. He said it would be even better when the girls started.

Re: Pleasures & Perils of Bicycle Race Escorts

After I read this article, I watched OLNs coverage of the Tour last night. I focused on the motorcycle escorts. Man those guys were good. With the exception of the guy/idiot with the Columbian flag running infront of Lance they cleared a good path. Lance is detroying the competition on the mountain legs.... I encourage everyone who is interested in history to watch OLN coverage. We won't see another athelete like Lance in our lifetime...

I have noticed quite a number of DL1000 V-stroms this year.

How would you like to ride 60MPH down a tight mountain road in the rain, sitting backwards with a camera?

You would have to give me the yellow jersey, the champagne and the podium girls to rope me into that job.
