Late in the model year 1985(a year they only sold 36000 bikes) Harley offered pretty substantial breaks. My 1985 FLHTC retailed for a little less than 10k. I was offered 500 bucks off or 800 buck of free accessories.

I think you are off a little here....as I remember a 1980 wideglide went about 6500mwith superglides and lowriders less and Dressers went for about 8k. Your numbers seem more like 1985 figures.

It was a while back....... I just remembered I couldn't afford a new one. Really if you figure tax and license and what not my recollection of new prices wasn't that far off. and the used bikes I was buying were right where I said.

Its a personal thing, but no Harley is worth 17 large to me. Also I tend to run my bikes into the ground, so no resale value applies to any bike I've ever owned.

They won't win most likely but I'm glad they're doing it old school.

I think it takes guts to go against conventional wisdom.

Default What it doesn't have!

What the E-Glide classic does not have:

A reverse

Remote lock/unlock

Built in MP3/CD Aux hookup

Three release latches by each other for the trunks.

A great cruise control

0-60 in 4.4 seconds and a low 12 second 1/4 mile

3 year unlimited mile warrenty

The "deep discounts" I alluded to were exclusive to the S-rod. Didn't mean to confuse you with such comlex sentence/paragraph structure.

I've seen 1K below MSRP on V-rods here in the south. That was last year.

HD isn't going down the tubes any time soon, but the S-Rod is going to be a fiscal challenge.

You may now put the HD chip back on your shoulder.

Back in the late 50s/early 60s the Imps had some WILD designs. I member the 1959? had the headlight set-in an alcove that looked like it should'a had a sign reading, "The Rust Starts Here!" You could'a built a SnowMan out'a what gathered in-there, in the winter.

How 'bout the 58 Buick Roadmaster...You could chrome two Harleys with, what was on the front-grill of one'a them.
