Or It was a friend and I was deliberately taking it easy on him. Notice the speed difference on the straight, thanks to the fact that I had to sit bolt-upright, so as not to interfere with the tank-mounted camera. -Sean

I was wondering about the straights. Of course... ahem... I assumed it was a balast issue.

Nice to see Kawi restraining themselves on the graphics, now the (well done IMO) lines of the bike can show through. I am again saddened by my lack of finances.

I do like this bike, road one of last years models a while back, and loved the nimble feel, and that motor felt powerfull enough, this sound even sweeter.

Buzz, when are you going to start the info-mercials up for your patented fleecing seminars, I need more money (and a larger garage)

Actually the GSXR750 comes in only 30 or so pounds of their 600. I always thought the 750s are a better compromise of weight/power. But what do I know, I left a brown mark in my shorts with the last Gixer 1k I rode.

Default 2015 Kawasaki ZX-6R

At the current rate of change, I can just see it now...

Just when we thought it couldn't get any better along comes the 2015 Kawasaki ZX-6R.

With 160 rear wheel horsepower and a wet weight of 324 pounds this thing is the absolute 600 bomb.

Can the 145 horse power 2014 CBR600RR Honda and the 155 horse power Yamaha R6 even compare?

And what of the rumors of the new 2015 170 horsepower 299 pound Suzuki GSX600.

If you look back through time to 1997 we saw the following 600cc rear wheel power everyone was just raving about how fantastic 92 HP was and how can they get any better. Now in 2005 we have a 636cc bike that should be putting something in the neighborhood of 117Hp to the ground!.

1997 MO 600 test results

Kawasaki: 92.0 bhp at 12,000 rpm

Honda: 90.0 bhp at 11,500 rpm

Suzuki: 88.7 bhp at 12,000 rpm

Yamaha: 88.5 bhp at 12,000 rpm

See the article at http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mccompare/top600s.html

"This space-race for the 600 title has led to machines that out-perform liter bikes of just a decade ago." So we had liter bikes in 1987 that were slower then 1997 600Â’s.

Makes me wonder just where we will be performance wise in 2015. And wow to the poor 18 year old kid in 2015 being told, yeah a 600 is a good starter bike.

actually... dry.. the gixxer 750 weighs 1 pound less than the zx-6... claimed anyway...

of course, that weight really don't mean that much when most of the boys you ride with outweigh you by 100 pounds.

I always laugh at the fatboys on sportbikes. They'll sit and talk about how the bike is 10 pounds lighter!!!! WOW!

They then ignore the fact that it s carrying around 250 pounds of bloated bovine.

Bah.
