Default radial valves

OK. Let me admit my ignorance. What's a radial valve?

Default 2005 MV Agusta F4-1000 S

Another uncomfortable, impractical liter four-cylinder supersport. Yawn.

Plus, MR ALLCAPS says nothing wheelies like a gixxer.

OK, OK, the damn thing's beautiful and I want one just like every other motohead. Like the 916 series, this design refuses to age.

Francis,

I believe (but I could be wrong) that MV uses the term "Radial Valve" as a description of the relative position of the four valves in the cylinder head. In the MV's case the valve stems are splayed-out a bit so that the four valve faces are arranged radially in the combustion chamber. It sorta makes me think "Hemi" -Sean

Default Re: radial valves

Usually valves are parallel pairs: exhausts toward the front,

intakes toward the rear.

MV splays the pairs apart so that they're each aimed more

toward the center of the cylinder.

I think the cam lobes are shaped slightly strangely like cones

instead of parallel-sided to match. You'd think this would

cause odd thrust angles and funny wear, but what do I know?

I'll leave it to the flow-bench-knowledgeable to tell us whether

radial is better for four valve motors...?

I went to ask Livello Liquido's famed mechanic, Diagnostica about Valvo Radiale. However, the secretary told me they had both gone to a late lunch and weren't expected to return.

I have absolutely no farging idea what a radial valve is. Does that make me a bad person?

(Nice to see a David taking on the Goliaths. That is one sweet ride. Nice story, guys.)

Default David Ogilvy Would be Proud

I swear! The way Yossef describes things, he could probably sell me a Puch-Moped and it would be a week before I realize, I'd been had. That was some really good writing.

As for the $21,495.00 MSRPÂ…"GASP!" Okay, the damn thing is absolutely beautiful, and it does measure up, Spec-Wise, but thatÂ’s some serious freight to pay for engineering that can be had for a lot less.

Hey, Yossef! Would you mind helping me out, the next time IÂ’m thinking about buying a, vintage, Stratocaster? Those old Strats are generally awful, but you could probably talk me into anything.
