Wow, I guess they COULD make the GSX-R1000 uglier than before. I didn't think it was possible, but Suzuki proved me wrong. I'm sure it'll be a corker, though.

SV1000- good changes, could actually be useful.

SV650s- BFD, except good job hiding that awful frame.

Supermoto- a good idea, (and it's good to see another Japanese company expand their lineup into this category) but pointless without a good performing model to start with. Just like the XT660X, it'll be styling with no substance, which simply doesn't work for performance bikes.

At least they're doing something useful and pushing the boundaries, unlike Honda.

Honestly Sean, is there ever a year that isn't a great year to test motorcycles?

Of course not. But hey, I was just excited about the 400SM (soon to be 450?) -Sean

Clearly Suzuki got a deal on black paint for this year's models. Nice looking tail on the GSX-R, but it's too bad they couldn't have made it as pretty as the R1 if they were going to all the trouble to restyle it. Sure wish they'd make one in a solid color without the Speed Racer graphics.

Still, unlike the (ahem) "new" Boulevard series, there appear to have been some useful (AKA: functional) changes made to make their other bikes better.

That being said, better get yer 49 State SV1000 before it's "blessed" with the catalyst exhaust system though... I can't wait to see what THAT costs to replace.

The SuperMotard configuration has me most curious. The local Ducati/Aprilia dealer has an Italian brand in the store.

I'll start shuffling the bikes around in the garage once they come out with a high performance 450 single.

The DRZ400S should have fairly good power for a 400: dyno reports say 45 hp after jetting/exhaust.

A full on dirtbike bike of comparable displacement (450cc) is still only about ~50hp after light tweaking.

So it should be reasonably high performance.

All the cruisers are fuel injected now... with several real upgrades. Styling changes are nice... but I'd take performance upgrades anyday.

blah.

This is almost as exciting as the new Honda lineup. How will I contain my excitement?

A new "Open Class" "Supersport" shootout every year... sounds great bring it on. Note to Suzuki : " It's the new millenium lose the 80's graphics for chrissakes ."

If you expand your definition of "they" it's already available - last month I picked up a Husky SM450R (reviewed on this site) and it's street legal in California (after my local shop did a few minor mods). No ignition switch, headlight dimmer, or horn, but I'll bet it's a lot lighter than whatever Suzuki sells as a supermoto.
