Because it's counterbalanced.

Thanks for the feedback

I know I can't ride as fast as you can, and probably don't have as subtle a throttle hand and that may account for not running into a situation where I have a tire spinning problem.

The only time I have run into the back tire spinning is when the road has some sand or gravel on it. Otherwise the back tire sticks like glue. It may be from my heavy weight I don't know. I have the throttle pinned coming out of the 25 to 45 mph corners riding with other high end sport bikes with great riders and I see their tires leave dark trails on the road and my tire never spins at the same speeds acceleration.

Re: Buell @&*$!

Well, I think both you guys may be right... Sean's talking mostly Battletrax, and Grant's talking highway twisties. The XB9 is geared lower than the XB12, and surely is more suitable for tight-track work. Either bike has tons of useable real-world torque, enough to overpower the stock rubber.

This is not a flame, because I don't care what anyone else rides. But ... I finally rented a Harley while on vacation so I could see what they're like. The Road King was also my first cruiser of any kind. I kinda liked the torque wave engine, but found the riding position bizarre - I didn't feel comfortable going 1/3 the speed I normally do. Also the fact that it was nearly twice my normal ride in every size category was scary at very low speeds. That said, it was pretty fun for, shall we say, 'cruising' at 10-25 mph. I suppose if I could afford 6 bikes and the garage to hold them an HD might be the 6th.

As your statement is not a flame please know that my question is sincere. What do you ride now that has you feeling the way you did about the RK?
