Default Hey now

Sometimes KPaul rides 150 miles in a whole weekend. That's some serious mileage bro.

Default Re: An education for the m/c prophylactic.

Twins triples and fours will all share a space because each configuration has it's advantages, Triumph has all but phased out the four cylinders in favor of the classic parrallel twin and their signature triple, the only four they have left is the 600

Ducati has ran singles and V-fours in the past before settling on the L twin, Harley built a boxer twin for N Africa a while back and had some singles up till a few years ago.

The Japanese pretty well adopted the inline four as their base design, though they'll build and copy what ever is selling at the time.

For being a "Great Motorcycle Prophylactic," you do tend to state the obvious

Default Re: Ducati makes good on KPaul prophecy.

Just like the Honda NR750 or the Ruin, Ducati will make a few of these ultra-expensive sportbikes with marginally better function than inlines for a year or two, lose a ****pile of money, then discontinue them after all the ****heads with more money than brains or riding skills buy them up.

Captainwhoopass's shameless prediction: This model will be gone from Ducati's lineup by 2008, provided they stay in business that long after making it.

Default Re: Rider Demographics for Dummies.

Of course you see more sportbike guys on your weekend trips- you ride 10 miles to the Burger Barn and back. The cruiser riders are all busy out riding more than 150 miles in a weekend.

To be fair there is a very good reason that I'd not expect to see sportbikes on the roads. The roads are far less than perfect and there are stretches 10s of miles long that would literally rattle the brains out of anyone stupid enough to ride them on a sportbike. Even with my fairly softly sprung GSX1100G there were sections that transmitted jarring shocks every 50 feet or so for mile after mile. Especially on the backroads.

But someone would actually have to have actual experience riding actual motorcycles to know that.

Default Save yourself!

Stop now, before it's too late! Don't get sucked any further into Kook's Universe of Circular Logic.
