Seem nicely in the mix to me. Unless your talking about cornering ability. Mine does fine in the corners.

Now all they seem able to do is knock off gutless Harley look alikes.



Gutless? Have you ridden a Warrior? If you think that is gutless... you obviously have a much more powerful bike than I do.

Take this thing up a notch and keep its kick-ass image. Ohlins, radial discs, sub 500 lbs, 150+ hp, 100 ft/lbs., a real seat, gas tank where it can be filled and gauges that can be read. Make each shift feel like slamming H&H magnum shells into the chamber. Price it high-keep the squids off of it. As a child of the 60s, this is my last connection with mucsle cars. For that reason, I dearly love the Max.

That one trick is one hell of a trick. And saying it's a standard is a true slap in the face to Mad Max. Kinda' like calling a 6 speed paddle shifter sequential transmission a standard. Sort of applies but lacks depth.

He's 13 already? How time flies! I'm makin a deal on a Max as we speak. If it works out, you buy the gas AND the beers. That'll cost ya a bunch. Lots of good deals on bikes out there and I'm itchin for a new one.

Default The V-Max certainly does stir the soul!

The V-Max suffers the same fate as the 1967 427 Tri-Carb Corvette and other muscle cars and bikes of old. Yes, in their day they were the fastest things around and yes they are still cool. Park a running 1967 427 Tri-Carb Corvette next to a brand new 2003 Corvette Z06 and ask the average ignorant Joe or lady which car is fastest in any contest of speed and they will always pick the 1967 Tri Carb. The 67 Vette just plain looks and sounds bad and has years of memories and reputation to back it up.



Same with bikes, park a V-Max next to a new Yamaha FZ1 and notice which one gets the attention. Ask which is faster and the average Joe or Lady will pick the V-Max.



Of course as we know the drag strip tells a very different story when you take the older car or bike and race them against the new hardware.



But if you’re like me and you really don’t care that such and such bike is a ½ second faster in the quarter mile then the V-Max certainly does stir the soul!

I'm going to remain a two streetbike family for now. My son just turned 6 and is lobbying for a dirt bike.



My next purchase may be a WR450 or KTM or other such appliance.



The beers are on me. I thought you were hankerin' for a CBX?

anybody who disparages the V Max has probably never ridden one. After riding everything out there for like the last decade and a half or so, the V Max would be on my short list of bikes I would buy. Just like with Buells, it's the sound and the visceral feel of the thing, stuff you can't measure on a dyno. Numbers wise, tho, i bet not many bikes are faster for about the first 100 feet or so... Hats off to whatever freak at Yamaha made this thing happen in the first place, Ed Burke?, whoever he was had a pretty good grip on why I like motorcycles... the old Honda Sabre wasn't even close. Nor the Valkyrie. Yick...
