Default Re: Arai XD Helmet

It's sad the pricing games Arai and other mfg's are pulling these days, but, I just use the internet, forums, etc. to find the lowest prices. They pull their crap, and we figure new ways to get around it.

As to the XD, love this helmet, and the comment about the shield is bull. It comes off, and you simply run your Scott's like any other dirt helmet. I just used mine on a long trip to Copper Canyon, Mexico, on pavement, or during cold night riding I used the shield. Most of the time I ran my goggles, and just left the shield on. You can run the sun visor and shield, or remove either, and run them individually. (Being stuck with a pure dirt, or pure street helmet on this trip would have sucked big time.) The chin bar has two vent paths, straight through, and up to the shield, works great. I have seen "street" pricing for solids at $380, my silver, white, black graphics ran $470 out the door, including shipping. (I haven't had the forehead pain, but several guys at ADVrider.com just took a spoon to the lower edge of the styrofoam, and gave it a rounded edge, problem solved.) My Shoei XSP-II is gathering dust.
