Default Re: Why get the Naked version?

You make a good point. I asked my friend about the conversion of his SV650s to an SV650 and he said: 1) The parts required were more than just a headlight and fairing and the conversion was way more complicated than he thought it would be 2) the parts were pretty spendy so he bought his off of Ebay 3) Our mutual friend who lived in the UK and probably could have gotten us the European parts has since moved back to the States. So much for that plan.

It actually looks like they're going after the Bandit series. The FZ1 vs. B12 was pretty obvious and now the FZ6 vs. B6 completes the package. Think MO or any of the magazines will be doing the comparison of performance vs. cost/aftermarket support soon?

Default YZF600R territory

This bike seems to be stepping directly on the toes of the YZF600R. I wonder how much longer they'll keep it around. Shame. I really like that bike.

The new R1 looks great; too much power in the category to purchase a bike on hp alone......had a 2001 R1 but sold it since it was really too focused for me at 6'3"......so I went with a BMW 1150GS that I love......new R1 would be a great second bike.

Enjoy and carry on.

Nope. I saved them at the exact same res. I even opened both versions and checked them. No visible image loss, and this is on a 1920x1200 resolution monitor.

The best feature of the B6, IMHO, is that it is a known quantity. Sure the performance is off from the current generation of sport and sport-touring (or even the last few if you believe in 5 year generations), but you know there is serious aftermarket support. Luggage? Performance parts? Spare parts? All there and reasonably priced. FZ6? If Yamaha sticks with it, there will eventually be good support, but for now it will be limited.

Unless you're fixated on the styling, you're missing the full-fairing FZ6 that's been in Yamaha's lineup for about five years. It's called the YZF600.

I think the open class shootout is gonna be a war instead of a Suzuki walk over for 2004. Just invite Johnny B for the show. I know he'd hate to miss it.
