I thought the Buell motor was new, not a HD. Just build on HD tooling, I think it's more like two Blast cylinders.

"Ya, good point. Who needs bike reviews? Just put all the sport bikes on a dyno and calculate the best HP/cc/$. Let the sheep flock to their master... "baaaaahh.... baaahhhh... give us cheep sport bikes... baaaaahhhh"

Now THAT's funny. Two moderates towards humorous. Good job.

If I remember properly, an article in CW referenced a survey that put the average at more like 2500-3500 miles. I was being generous to the MOron masses by saying 4-6k. In this case, "average" is merely a quantitative observation with no qualitative implications. I am deeply saddened by your inability to afford an ST4s. Buy a Concours.

As someone who has a Monster and a SV650 in his garage, I have to say that the comparo missed a major point:

The Monster has terrible cornering clearance. Even after you pop for high pipes and rearsets, the Monster will drag the exhaust headers way before anything on the SV touches down.

Some of us care more about going around corners than racing stop light to stop light.

Yeah, they are reliable if you actually ride them and take reasonable care of them....

How many miles on yours, assuming you actually ride?

This is very true. The XB engile shares the same basic architecture as the XL engine, but shares no parts. It was been updated and modified with a shorter stroke to rev higher, at the expense of a bit of low-end torque.
