![]() The poor MO staffers labor endlessly to provide you with quality content--you have no idea how gritty, how dirty the work really is--and this is how you thank them? By accusing them of eyespam? You make me sick.

![]() Sure we get some pop-ups here at MO. I recall some annoying Buell ads that came up in the middle of my screen, requiring action to close them.
Be honest, youse 'guys. |

![]() AOL has a pop-up blocker that works pretty well, Now I get junk I.M's instead. I haven't figured out how to block them yet.

![]() For god's sake man/woman, download Adaware, get a decent ISP, quit downloading dodgy software, and stop blaming MO for self induced problems.
I get maybe one pop-up from MO each session. |

![]() You can stop the pop-ups by turning Java off in your browser. You don't need it on 99% anyway. Turn it back on when you need it.

![]() Alot of popup adds occur because you have picked up some spyware, or one of the adware bums. You can get this stuff so easy and it usually bypasses most firewalls, and antivirus programs that I've run into.
There is a shareware program that searches and removes "spyware". It is free (something that we all appreciate) and seems to be very effective. It is "Spybot search and destroy", and can be found at http://security.kolla.de/ It is amazing the junk that it will find on most computers. |

![]() That was an auto-expiring overlay, which is, in our eyes, very different from a pop-up that opens another window with useless ads for non-motorcycling stuff. Six of one, perhaps, to the non-technical, but it was only on the homepage and you should've only seen it once per day initially, then only once towards the end of the campaign.
We don't pop up other windows, not even for really cool content. Anyway, that expired a while ago, and the point of this post seemed to be that they were getting pop-ups right now, and we wanted to let people know that they're not from us. Mozilla (www.mozilla.org lets you block pop-ups, explicitly block or allow cookies on a per-site basis, and is free. And it is the most standards-compliant browser. Give it a try if you're frustrated with vendor-supplied browswers. |

![]() Follow this link for info on how to block those message ads http://ptech.wsj.com/archive/mailbox-20030313.html
I tried it on my home computer and it worked great...no more ads. You do have to restart the computer to for the settings to go into effect, but once you do that, you'll be fine. |

![]() Well, I'm glad y'all took this seriously enough to post it, MO-Men.
Verily, I was all set to write the same angry missive. I am recently afflicted with many pop-under ads for things like digital cameras, baby strollers, and (irony of ironies) Internet Security software. These ads seem to get active ONLY when I am reading browsing MO. Hmm. But I will take the advice of my fellow subscribers and look for this anti-ad schtuff. So thanks for not actually doing this mess to me in the first place (I'm taking your word for it.) and thanks also for helping with the solution. That's why I subscribe, solutions. MO-Men, Power up!
