What?
I will be the first one to admit, I am no Harley die hard. If not for the V-Rod I would not own a HD. Mine is not stock either. I myself used to own a Valk. Loved it. Objectively though, many many street races have shown not a single Valk or VTX could compete in handling and acceleration, mostly not even a fair fight. Could not care less for brand names really, just the final product whatever that is. But very unexpected of me, I will keep my V-Rod I am guessing for many more years to come. I am very happy with this other lifeless tool device of fun being added to my stable. Rocket 3? Here we go again. Already one down, a friend, has some kind of full system exhaust or so he says coming is awaiting rematch revenge. Ain't this motorcycle bug great? Speaking of bugs, if it turns nasty, could always whip out the funnest bike I've EVER owned, the Speed Triple, and run circles around any of us cruising freaks. |

Owned several HD in past. I am no Harley fan really. The only reason I still have a Harley is the V-Rod. It is just true in my particular case. Valks look cool. Love them too. Sorry but tested already where it counts, the street. Raced Some Valks and VTXÂ’s. Simply put, sooooo easy. No need to try again after blowing away a NOS Valk. My V-Rod is not stock. Same as everyone else. Certainly normally aspirated. It is true Valks are beautiful and people do get out of their own way to go look and ask but more so with the V-Rod IMHO. For truly adulterated comfortable fun the Speed Triple gets out of the stable before the GSX-R in my home.

I bought a Warrior; Reason? More bang for the drakma. I off-loaded my waterheater/ exhaust system, ditched the out of place air cleaner and put in the Power Comander. Toss in some Billit trinkets from Yamaha and I am still under 14 bills. I like the brakes and the fact that it weighs in at cheesebuger over 600lbs. It works for me. If I were to buy a V-Rod. I would buy used. My Amegos at the local H-D stand, tell me that they get lots of people (RUB's) that buy the "Rod" take it home and don't "get" what they've bought. Soon they are backin the show room wanting to go all traditional with a Fatty or a Road King and try to trade in their V-Rods. And the boys at the H-D stand are happy to "rip their faces off" on the trade. Bottom line: The resale on these things is not typical of other H-D products. As for the Yamaha's value ? I have never had any illuisons of any kind of resale value on any motorcycle from Japan. (Barring low mile Goldwings.) I'm not slamming, its just a fact. All I ride is Rice.

A bleak end of day brightened by your response to this horrid "Runaway" fable. I do remember reading it when first released but then I owned a Harley (never again) and was "influenced." I finally smartened up and purchased a new BMW R 1200RT after trying a new 04 V-Rod and new 05 E-Glide Ultra. What a waste of money. I sorely regret going down the Harley road having sold a superb 02 BMW R 1150GS for the V-Rod.. As can be inferred I was not pleased with the performance of the two Harley's. The V-Rod was only happy going straight and one-up to boot, and the E-Glide drove me nuts dragging body parts in the twisties. Dangerous, changing the geometry of a turn mid stream!. I'll stay with Beemers from this point onward....course I live and work in Luxembourg where BMW is a pretty popular bike.
Cheers, MAMMUT
