I'm not sure you can get good ones any more as GI Issue. I think the new ones are made-in-China and are of poor quality. A pair of BDU jungle boots I bought for camping fell apart after only 1/2 a summer of camping/hiking.

However there are substititues around. I found a pair of leather jump boots that were god quality for under $100 at a surplus store a few years ago. Just make sure what you buy is NOT made in China.

I think I've seen those on the Sportsman's Guide website. I may try a pair.

I simply refuse to pay the outrageous prices that accompany much of the gear specifically designated "for motorcyclists" if I can avoid it.

And all this time I thought it was drinking tequila that did that. No more drinking by the microwave.

Check out (as an example) http://newenglandshoe.com/magnumuniformcollection.asp.

You can also look at the whole line at www.magnumboots.com, but the Storm is the stuff.

Awright! Poseur gear reviews!

Let's see, what might be next for MO product reviews?

[*]Pre-ground foot pegs[*]Leathers pre-worn down to the lining at all the contact points[*]Shredded jeans with optional blood stains
Or wait, how about protective squid gear that isn't afraid to show its colors:

[*]Steel-toed flip-flops[*]Kevlar beach shorts[*]Leather tank-tops (w/integrated spine protection... uh wait, do squids have spines?)
Under the squid gear section, you forgot to mention:

Fur-covered baseball cap with carbon fiber armor and chin strap

Fur-covered sunglasses with flip-up mirrored lenses and quick-release attachment points to the baseball cap chin strap

Elastic strap-on kneepucks for use with your Kevlar beach shorts

Titanium/carbon fiber watch with onboard forward-pointing video camera, radar detector/jammer, and lap timer

Great! Now some dorky kid on a CBR600RR is going to blow by me in tank-top and shorts and he will now be sporting the latest Doc Martin riding gear...open toe boots.

And yes, since I live in Arkansas this will happen.

These boots would be lousy in a steel mill...just imagine all that hot slag seeping it's way into that little hole...ouch.

Ha! BDU compliant for the Navy maybe. HiTecs aren't authorized for the Army because they turn into chocolate pudding in the field. I'm sure they're fine for riding though.
