Guess I didn't use enough sarcasm there.

True, however the 749 actually is NOT legal (although last year's 748 is) because Ducati did not submit it for homologation with the FIM. I guess that with WSB (aka Ducati Cup) and the MotoGP effort, they didn't want to support another series. Unfortunately, that precludes any privateer teems contesting the series with the 749 as well.

Reminds me of that one line Steve Martin had at the Oscars last night (watching that kinda crap is how my wife gets back at me for the hours I spend watching motorcycle racing) -- I don't recall who he was referring to, but he said basically "I'd do anything to look like [whatever the guy's name was] -- other than exercise and eat right, that is."

Congrats on getting the ride at Fontana. I'll be watching for you.

Default Re: Oh, then why the ZX6-RR?

And, of course, BIKE and CW can still get Honda testbikes. Hmmmm.

MO, I think being blacklisted by Honda is gonna do wonders for your credibility! "Man, that MO! They call it like it is so bad that Big Red won't give 'em test bikes no more!"

Oh no not another Bueller in denial. The old CBR beat it in the Cycle World test. No one is buying the Buell anyway.

Hmm. I can't imagine that the scooter had all that much to do with it. I mean, did Suzuki blacklist anybody following the "annual flinging of the GSX-Rs" a couple years ago? A Metro doesn't cost Honda enough to bother with. Now, maybe they didn't like that MO gave the impression their serious urban commuter could be used as a toy. Like nobody's done that before. OK, so what's the _real_ story?

I think the Honda placings might have more to do with advertising money than anything else. Just pick up a US rag and count the number of Honda ads. Sample Cycle World I have here has 5 two page ads, 2 one page ads and 3 other little ones scattered about. Also, 2 of the three major articles feature Honda products. Honda has more ad space in this rag than all the other Japanese Mfgs put together. I'm sure the ****tail partied are for letting the mag editors know on which side their bread is buttered.

Default And other thing

The Triumph isn't a race bike. A 600 but not a race bike. Also Buell has said that the Firbolt can go head to head with the 600s in the twisties. OK I want to see it. I don't believe it can.
