I must have some kind of unique anatomy. I bought a 998 in August and have put over 3000 miles on it. To me the the bike is quite comfortable. I've had a Hayabusa, R1, some GSXR's amoung other things and the 998 seems to be at least as liveable as any of these. The 999 with its adjustble seat (on mono posto models only by the way) is probably more comfortable, but the "torture rack" characterization of the 998 doesn't ring true, with me anyway.
When I bought the bike I was pretty sure Helibars and an aftermarket saddle were going to be early mods. 3000 miles later I don't see any need for them. By the way I'm 5'10", on the portly out of shape side, and very old. |

speaking of slow sales, Pro Italia (a big Ducati shop in SoCal), told me last time I was there in September that they had sold only one 900ss the entire year...guess the idea that the design will grow on people isn't panning out too well....

Twenty-forth post!
I agree with you about the adjustable ergos being the next big thing. Cool, cutting edge idea. Kinda like a '74 Cadillac. >As I bend over the new bike, I read the 999 sticker upside down, 666, and find the inspiration for the 999's front end. It's positively devilish, highly distinctive--and it definitely kept growing on me.< Interesting about the 666. I was in a store the other day and they had a box of those glow in the dark, Cyalume sticks on the counter. They could be had in red, white, or blue. In the picture on the box, they showed three sticks together and the shape of the hooks at the top of them, with a hole in the center below the hook, made them read 666. Subliminal advertising for the new Ducati 999, or something more ominous? Ah, must just be this Halloween thing coming up. |

I am going to kill you out of jealousy. You, my friend, need a cruiser, but I love all those bikes in your stable.

Yeah, but look what happened to the Morpho...it became the GTS1000. Awesome bike, slow sales...damned shame, really; I'd love to own one.
