The WayHighMan is the troglodyte of the motorcycly world. of course. His use of language is, however, very good.

We did that to a buddy's old Celica back in high school- it was a 12V portable unit, so we ran it off the car battery and had the switch in the passenger compartment. It was like Mad Max's supercharger; you could turn it on and off on demand. My friend and I started it out as a joke, but the guy swore it added power!

I'm a gangly 6'1"+ (could be more, I really don't know) and the legroom on the Kawi was awesome. Not so much on the Honda, though.

Arg. I did a quick search around the office to find literature that would indicate drivetrain gear ratios for both bikes. My search came up with nothing. I will try again later, maybe someone else has this info?

I was gonna recommend the V-Strom (I've got one) for it's very good leg roomn. but if he's unimpressed with the Superhawk engine he won't think much of the similar powerband on the Strom. The GS Beemer engine isn't as good as the Strom's, according to some riders who've owned both.

So if I read this right, the two bikes are close enough in performance that it becomes a case of personal preference. I have a 2001 'Bird and I'll tell you right up front that the fork springs were the first thing I replaced on the bike-incredibly undersprung. As soon as I solved that little problem (and set the rear preload), the bike handled like a dream. And before the team Green loyalists scream "Foul! Not stock what you did!", lemme say that I threw a leg over the ZZR-1200 at the dealership-and just sitting on the bike collapsed the forks like Bernie Kosar flushed out of the pocket. Those fork springs were at least as bad as the original Honda bongers if not worse, and would've had to go too.

I like the counterbalanced engine, digital read-out and linked brakes; and I'm not sure what you guys mean buy "a handy little u-lock storage space"...under the seat isn't good enough?

Default Re: Ram-air horsepower boosts...It has been done

Great idea, except,,, it has been done, sort of.

Correct method is to measure pressure inside of the airbox during the run on the road, and then to repeat that on the dyno.

Sport Rider run two articles using that method.

Leaf blower has enough capacity to ram air 25 cc engine from,,,,,well,, leaf blower.

They had to use 2 industrial air compresors to generate enough air flow.

Ram air on XX was good but Kaws (ZX6 and ZX9) were the best.
