Default Yes Salvadori or others would impose THEIR politics on their readers?

I've subscribed to Rider for years, and periodically Salvadori spews the typical liberal/ socialist b@##s%&t that he and a lot of American believe. I like his writing about riding and love the magazine, but don't agree with his pompous elitist socialist beliefs. If you get the latest copy of 'Motorcyclist', there is a great letter from a Mr. Jackman. A lot of the MO subscribers whine about political postings and remind me of some shooters I know. They think that if they shoot trap, or bolt action rifles, or .22, or whatever, that the treasonous bastards who run this country won't come after them. Only the other guy's guns are bad (semi-auto pistols, military-style rifles, etc..). But, the authoritarian ruling class hates freedom in whatever form, so all guns, all motorcycles, and anything else they don't like will be banned unless good, freedom loving patriots get of their asses and do something.

But Miles Davis always played jazz. He never mixed marches with his jazz tracks.

I dunno. Burns writes OK, but I don't see all the fuss about his writing being so hot.

Where in the world did you come up with that logic. The U.S. economy requires that a certain number of people produce and a certain number of people buy, this in turn generates a certain amount of tax revenue to run the government. Fiddling with a major producer like the auto industry could have dramatic negative consequenses if not done correctly. That' is what was so potentially disasterous about the stock boom of the 90's (of which many people were leary). The money didn't exist except on paper, and there were no real assets to back it up. The fact that the illusion finally collapsed should be as no suprise to an intelligent person. All of this crap was dumped in GW's lap and he has handled it better than ANYBODY on this silly list could ever dream of handling it. Any of you who think you have the capacity to handle 1/1000 the pressure GW does are simply delusional. And like Tom Dacshel, you are just trying to be relevant in a situation where you are not.

Default Re: Umm, no.

You can't prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt if you don't use measurable criteria-or at least define them. Less free? How are you measuring freedom? By the right to own property? To vote? Or is freedom like pornography...you don't know what it is, but you'll know it when you see it.

An additional thought; if the way you measure the quality of a functioning society is by the presence of personal freedoms, then is anarchy the form of society to which we should aspire?

If JB feels the need to wax lyrical on these types of subjects, I'd prefer he start a seperate website. I subscribe to MO to read about things motorcycle-related.

I am in favor, however, of additional attractive women joining the staff.
