Gabe, this was truly one of the best posts ever! I don't know what's up with those crazies in Berlin. I have a 1982 R100RS which was innovative for its time, but doesn't look like something out of a Bauhaus nightmare. Oh well - I guess this is what they call progress.

Interesting. I'm a R1150GS fan myself and having riden many harley's and owned many BMW's. This bike will appeal to the numbskull who thinks harleys are cool but wants something different. I really dought he will be disapointed. If you like overpriced dumptrucks buy a harley if you want a fine handling well engineered machine buy a BMW.(period)

Thank you for simplifying my buying decision, son of stin. I had planned to have a look at the new FJR1300 and the ST1300 as well as the overpriced dumptruck and the fine handling well engineered machine, but don't see any reason to now!(exclamation mark)

Heated grips, heated seat and an Aerostitch Kanetsu Electric Jacket, bring on the winter.

Now that is funny!

I did not think a deadpan droll delivery was possible when simply using text. I was wrong

Maybe I can find a used R1200C Stilleto instead... slap some hard bags and a windshield on it... At least it wouldn't be ugly!

It looks beautiful, even if it's too big and heavy for my ability/taste (did I mention, too expensive for my wallet?).

Reading your article I would have thought of a ridicolous price, but at the end it looks reasonable, especially compared to cheaper-looking bikes priced as much as.

By the way, how did you come with a $100,600 salary? Why not 100K?

#1. If you have to explain why it really isn't ugly - it's ugly. (Were you out behind the school sneaking a cigarette the day they read "The Emperor's new clothes"?)

#2. I never had a heated seat, cruise control, or mink socks. No care, either.

#3. I put 30K miles on my '95 R1100RS (2 years) before selling it. After going through an experimental stage with 9 other bikes since then, I would like to return to der fold and buy a new R1150RS.

#1. That cruiser is ugly.

At least BMW goes their own way on design. One may think it's ugly, beautiful, or anything in between, but they can't say it isn't original. If more mfgs. had the same mindset, maybe we would have many more motorcycle design choices instead of the same bike with a different badge. I wouldn't own this bike, but I still like the boldness to do something different.
