Default Re: ABS is swell

I've got a YZF 600R in august last year. That is no R6, but still a sportbike I guess.

I rode that bike, or whatever you like to call it, 18 000 kms (11 250mi) before parking it for winter in mid december, there is quite a bit of snow here in Quebec at that time.

That include my commutting and a 7 days/ 3600 mi ride to Deals Gap and back, most of it on back roads. Done that trip with my bud who ride a ZX12R.

For the squid qualification, it's up to you to decide.

Ciao!

Default Traction Control

It is in the opinion of Barry Sheene that several teams are running TCS in Moto GP, namely Marlboro/Yamaha and I believe one of the Suzuki teams.

Honestly, manufacturers are goofy with their weight figures. Perhaps Honda is being more honest than others, and including coolant or something?

I want to be like you when I am 50. The black bird is pretty thing. I need some more time on my 600 ZX-6R before I can look at a bird.

Default Agree with you blademan

Agree with you. I am starting to think BMWs are overengineered, overpriced and underpowered. I too want to buy the best handling bike I can i.e. best price/performance ratio cause to quote a BMW commerical. "The best way to handle an accident it is to avoid it" A state of the art sportbike like the 929 gives you a great chance to avoid an accident.

When I am 60 I hope I am like you. Cruisers and Goldwings don't appeal to me so I could see myself on one of these some day. I also live in Seattle and I can appreciate what you are saying about ABS. My next bike probably will be an Ceptor with ABS. My ZX-6R is great but on rainy days I have done my share of skids. When you commute every day on a bike you tend to think about the unexpected more i.e. panic stops cause someone pulls out in front of you in the HOV lane on a rainy day on 405. ABS would be handy then.

FWIW, Motorcycledaily just posted a review of this bike. They absolutely loved it.

Default One more complaint and then I'm done

Hey guys,

You missed mentioning 2 things that actually matter. First is that the seat adjusts fore and aft independently from up and down for 9 possible seat locations. This is different and in my opinion better than BMW's system (which has 3 positions only)f. Second the bike has an actual trip computer that calculates instantaneous and average mileage. Maybe next time you could cut one paragraph of *****ing and replace it with *information*. I had to read about these items from motorcycledaily.com which is a free site.

Thanks,

Dennis

Default Caught off guard?

Salut!

If Honda has been caught off guard, they haven't been paying attention in the last 2 years. The FJR has been available for about 18 months in others markets.

About the weight, in the real world the FJR is roughly 100lbs lighter than the ST1100, should be 80 lbs lighter than the ST1300.

I my own opinion, they decided to leave it at that and play a slightly different game. When Yamaha came to the market in 97 with the YZ400F, we heard about the Honda that would come soon, they where the four stroke specialist after all. But they had to throw away what they had developed at the time and start from sratch, the YZF was out of reach, performance wise, and they where to compete head to head. It did take Honda more than 4 years to deliver the CRF.

In case you don't know, the subject was hand/foot/eye coordination in relation to operator skill. Apparently you are not aware that car AND motorcycle racers both require many of the SAME skills to be successful. Understand the big picture before you spout off.
