Re: Buell vs. Ducati 900 Supersport

The new buell sounds like a fantastic new motorcycle to my and for all that think that it needs more power just wait for the rumered new buell XB1200.

The Buell's strongets point though is that it's different, and the fact that it can run with the R1 on the type of roads that we all like to ride on is just great.

So what if it's not the fastest or best handling motorcycle made. If it's a fun bike to ride and you like it,thats all that counts to me.

A big problem in our sport (motorcycling) is that we have too many posers who think that they are what they ride.

We have to give Eric Buell a lot of credit for going where others fear to tread !

Re: Not your Father's Buell but Harley needs to give Buell more

I agree...take this mother to Sears Point and run it. Lap times required. I want to see how it does out there against whatever you throw at it....600 supersports, a litrebike or two, maybe the Mille in the garage for a twin...toss in the BMW too, just to spook all the squids at the track who think it's slow.

And no complaining either. I would kill someone (several people, actually) for the opportunity to go to a racetrack and run todays hottest bikes. No need to rent out the track, just go to a normal, everyday track session and get down.

Re: Where's the Beef (read: Comparo?)

Not a track bike??? What difference does it make? All a track is, is a twisty back road with out the fear of rocks in the corner or the on coming traffic. i.e. you can feel free to pass at any time.

I do know that Dave at HD/Buel cycle center in Waterloo IA would argue the point about a Buel not belonging on the track. He is one of the few that's not afraid to get out there and rip it up just a bit. And in the right hands the Buel does hold it's own. So give the people what they want, "A TRACK TEST."

Just for the record though you would never catch me trading my RC51 for a Buel, no matter the out come!!!

I know the old iron sporty's hold up because I used to wring the hell out of my '78 XLH trying to keep up with my buddy,s new {then} 700 sabre, progressive shocks, drag pipes and flat track bars, boy what a blast! that new buell looks good, I'd still take a 900ss or 900 monster though

Heathen! how dare you say the ducati is ugly, chug a few bottles of martini & rossi and look at the 900ss { awe struck gasps} then flog yourself with a stickerbush for your sacralige, ugly indeed! that's what sportbikes are supposed to look like! only R1's come close,

Re: Not your Father's Buell but Harley needs to give Buell more

Yes you are way off. see my other post about 1/4 times. Like I said race it against a stock 600 on a track like Sears Point and it would get its butt kicked. I am sure if that wasn't the case we would have Harley doing commercials bout how it kicks a Honda F4s butt. But we don't. I guess I admire Truimph for having the guts to take on the big 4 on head to head without any gimics or execuses. Harley takes the easy way out. Keep in mind this site has a lot ads lately for Buell. ;}
