And that energy source would be?????????????? I believe nothing in the next generation of energy will be cheap.
.

At one time, petroleum was “clean.” When the sheer numbers of vehicles and other machines using oil were small, the environment could absorb the pollution. As the numbers grew exponentially, especially in the post-WWII boom in the US, oil effectively became less clean. It’s a very different picture today than it was in the 40’s, 50’s, and even 60’s.

As for cheap, when I was a kid in the 70’s I could cash in a few six-packs of soda pop bottles and get enough money to fill the 6-gallon tank for my Jon-boat’s outboard. As a percentage of income, fuel costs were extremely low.

So, it's been done before, I believe it can be done again. It's a matter of will, not technology or resources.

What happened to that formula to "crack the catylist" that those evil Nazis used to turn coal into gasoline? And why don't we plow under everything on Molokai and plant acres and acres of sugar cane? If Brazil can be energy independant (Brazil fer chrissakes!?) with a little planning and ingenuity we can too. Send OPEC packing. And send that kook in Venezuala poison pen letters...

"As a percentage of income, fuel costs were extremely low."

That was because demand was low and supplies were high. Not so any more.

>Remember the liberals WANT fuel to be $5-6 per gallon.

As amazing as it sounds but its not really the US liberals who control the world oil price (you should stop taking financial advice from Guns&Ammo readers’ letters). And more importantly, neither they control the value of the dollar.

From 2003 the crude has gone up from 30 USD to 100 USD, which is 233% increase. But for us Europeans the crude went up rather less 75%, from 36 EUR to 62 EUR.

How is that possible? Because we don’t have a government of drag-azz yahoos who flush the value of their currency down the toilet (OK so we have the Italians). Five years ago you needed only 84 American cents to buy an Euro, now you need 1.57 USD.

So the crude went up 75% because of the Arabs and 160% because dollar was turned into peso.

... you are so spectacularly wrong about everything that your "analysis" of just about anything makes for high comedy. Please in the future always give us a minimum 500 word essay. We need the laughs.
