Default Real Motorcyclists!

Who wouldn't like to line cagers up and do this? I'd use a goldwing.

Why not a truck?

With really narrow tires, all the better to skoosh the cagers with.

Oh please, ran 'em over with a little dinky moped-like motorcycle. I say use a Boss Hoss, or the fabled Munich Mammoth. That would leave a mark...

Must be the heat over there, buncha' flippin loonies.

Remember how hot it was at Suda Bay there 'Cuddy and Pushrod? we could only be in the Main Space for 10 minutes at a time on watch, I think it hit almost 125 on the Check level. Hard to even breath in that heat. We had the swim call and BBQ on the flight deck....

The Med was never as bad as Gonzo Station off Iran.

We had a heck of a time keeping the evaporator's up. The sea injection temps were crazy high.

Now the weather was a different story. I was just telling some of the guys here about one time in the Med, the wind was blowing so hard off of Africa that we had to back up to catch a COD!

(Sorry - the translation is Carrier On-board Delivery; it was a twin prop cargo plane (C-1A) that "took off at 90 knots, flew at 90 knots and landed at 90 knots." They carried people and all sorts of stuff, the most important being mail.)

Jeezus, try to get a little sympathy around here.......

I don't care how hot it was in the Suez or Gulf of Oman or South China Sea, standing watch in the Main Space in the Eastern Med was plenty hot enough for me.....Besides Pushrod (Sir), you stood watches in Central, as I recall you needed a foul weather jacket to spend time in there the A/C was so good, us poor hole snipes had to sweat it out in the plant..

Remember I was an airdale, so at Souda Bay we were always in line to jump off #4 elevator into the cool. clear med. Once I went down so far, about 30-40 feet that the whole bottom of the Indy was outlined against the blue bottomless ocean. Scared the sh!t out of me. Had a tough time climbing up the cargo net the Bosuns put over the side on the elevator. Never went in again after that.

Central was indeed cool!

We got to watch the Flight Deck cameras, too!

I spent a good amount of time in 4MMR, though.

I suppose you get the same looks I do when I try to tell "civilians" some of the crazy things we took for granted...

Like jet fuel in the tap water. Or Super-pasturized milk in little trapezoidal cartons. Or stirring your Joe with a plank of solidified coffee creamer.
