Default Someone call Bill Watterson

+1. His "Riding Guru" column in PB is worth the cost of the magazine alone. However, good luck with the 8 year old thing. Sounds to me like you need some Calvin and Hobbes explanations for the little guy - that's what I'd do. Hehehe.

This is a concern. Have you had the "talk" with him yet? The one that starts off with the birds and bees and ends up with epic tales of Harley ****s(TM)?

I fear that he may not appreciate that while the Connie is a quite sensible choice, it usually is not associated with a crazed dental hygienists named Debbie who wear nothing but a HD logo leather vest and a thong.

Beat THAT Cartoon Network!

that one is MUCH easier to explain. and the prop's used to demonstrate are much more fun too *giggle*

the tricky one to explain is counter-steer.. or rather gyroscopic forces.. i still don't have a good way to explain that other then handing someone a bicycle wheel and saying "i don't know why but that what it does.. learn it and get used to it." playing with the bike wheel for about 10 mins explains perfectly without a single word why counter steer leans a bike.. i just don't know how to put it into text.

Buahahah!

My old a$$ '87 Shadow 1100 garnered more double takes than my friend's spanky new 929 RR that sat next to it at school. I'd have rather had the 929 though.

The wife's youngest sister really likes riding on the Concours too.

The bike turns because when you point the front tire in the opposite direction of the direction you wish to go, the inertia of the motorcycle causes the bike to fall forward, which tips it over in the other direction since the wheel is angled, and then that causes the bike to turn.
