The fact that it's the drug importation capital might just skew the stats, eh?

Is there anyone left who actually believes that gun control reduces crime? LOL!

Actually, it did reduce it a lot. Go back and look at the crime rates before they had carry laws, or talk to people who lived in Miami in the late 70's to the late 80's. They were worse than New Orleans, with running run fights in the streets. 2+ murders a day, many in broad daylight. With the carry laws, it was worse for about a year or two, the idiots got killed off, and the town quieted down significantly.

There's a lot of other stuff that are collating factors, including the ugly truth about how every law enforcement agency down there was competitive (Miami, DEA, FBI, etc.) and didn't help each other, but still...

I might go along with that, but I think the drawback to BMW's braking system is the servo assist, which has failed at various times on friend's GS's and RT's. My 1100 is too old for that technology.

Based on how most peoples' comments ran, that looks like a good general summary if you specify new BMWs and not old ones.

Arguing about who's got the best ABS on a motorcycle is like arguing about who has the best front brake actuated anti-dive system for forks (a la Honda's TRAC, or Kawasaki's AVDS).

Hate to break the news to y'all, but ABS is dead-- it just doesn't know it yet.

From now on, feast your little paws on electronic wedge brakes (EWB). Where ABS systems have to clumsily build up hydraulic pressure, wait for the wheel to lock, and then release, EWB will be able to hold your wheel at impending lockup, resulting in far, far shorter stopping distances than are possible with a human wrapping a finger or two around a hydraulic brake actuator.

I'm sure there's some geek out there that can quote the static, dynamic and impending lockup properties for µ.

Oh, and they'll be computer controlled and electronically actuated, and they will be (to take a quote from cycle magazine of the 80s) plastering your eyeballs to your face shield.

I'm only surprised they aren't out yet.
