Is that with, or without the Nitrous on-top of the Turbo?

The website says "recapture your youth". Who's childhood included a diesel motorcycle?!?!? Whoever they are, I'll bet they've repressed the memories.

Ditto on #5. He can ride the old airhead for a couple of years and sell it for about what he paid for it. An R100 or even R90 is a "real bike" yet has manageable power. The only downside is that he might become a "BMW guy".

I have a 84 Honda VT 500. I'm 6' 2'' 235. It gets me to 55 mph quick enough. I need to down shift to pass quickly at highway speeds though. This bike sits you upright with a VERY moderate bend in the knees. What's nice is it has some tourque for a small displacement.

You can find these on ebay for 1200 or less. The bike is really pretty fun. As a beginning rider it's easy to go slow because you can drive just fine a low rpm. When he's got some miles under his butt he can get into it a little and have some fun.

Used v-strom650. I have the v-strom 1000 and I agree, it is not a good beginner bike. But the 650 is a lot easier to handle. Both are great for big guys (I am the same size as your friend). I have never been comfortable on cruizer bikes. An older enduro might be fun to learn on too. Maybe ask your local rider safety instructor the same question.
