WeeStrom all the way. I'm 210 lbs at 6' and it has more than enough grunt. Get a Vario Touring Screen from TwistedThrottle.com and you're good to go.

Is he a man or a mouse!!!!!!!!! Get him on a new GSXR 1000, he's a big boy, he can handle it.

I'll third or fourth that. Sounds like the best bike for him is the KLR. Plus it's a cool bike to have anyway.

Look how big he is? his knees would be even with his ears on a Sporty. They and any midmount HD have about the most f***d up ergos in the world if you've got long legs. I think the KLR is it for him, plus he can take it on some logging roads and really learn how to ride.

ok, back on topic... if his limit is 4k, and you say, "I think he tends to lean toward cruisers," then might i suggest a used honda shadow 750, or a yamaha vstar 650?

or you might possibly check out the middleweight cruiser comparo and see if any of these are available used in your area.

cheers

I am 6'5" with a 36" inseam. I found the KLR to be tight on legroom from the saddle to the footpegs (great from seat to ground, though). I bought a 1985 Nighhawk CB700SC. Nighthawks have plenty of power (but not too much), tolerable leg room, and insurance was cheap!
