Not me, when the kids were little I sold my BMW's to buy a house and rode an '84 Sabre and then an '86 ZX1000R. After they got to be 4 and 5 years old I told their mom "deal with it" went back to buying a new bike every few years.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with me being divorced twice now........

Every philosophy "falls down" with real-world examples.

I love social engineers like Kook who advocate laws they don't follow and green technologies they won't buy.

no, the libertarian view exists PERIOD. I'll do my best to talk someone out of buying a 600cc bike, but just like they can buy a ferrari for their first car, it's their right to buy a 600cc or liter bike for their first bike. Just like it should be their right to go buy an AK-47 at the same age they can go buy a 10/22. They're both just rifles. Although, a WASR costs a good deal more than the Ruger. I digress...

I've been able to talk every single person but one out of buying a big bike for their first, and the fact that one didn't (and then high-sided his Ninja 600) helps convince the rest. Do YOUR job, but people will be people. Even on a tiered licensing system, do you seriously think that people won't totally ignore it if they choose? Keep your hands out of other people's business, it's their life to lose if they want to, and there's NOTHING you can do to stop them from suiciding.

For many sales people/dealers it's about making money not worrying about who the new owner is. As a former motorcycle sales person I would make suggestions and let the consumer make the decision. Granted if they are a new rider I always strongly suggest not getting a liter bike.

But, these are adults and they make their own decisions.

And the owner wants to make sales, and I need to make money too. So, I have to seperate my morality (being a dad) and a decision made by a young (sometimes older) adult.
