I apologize for being such a jerk. You make some excellent points and observations. I get frustrated when I see non-technical folks being promoted into management. Your comment about the idiot who thought bug databases were only for post-production fixes is classic. I think to be a good software development manager you have to have done it. You also have to keep learning. I try to do that. Boeing has changed a lot and is still changing ... We really can't afford to keep folks that can't do it anymore. We are now urged to keep a very competent core group and outsource during the peaks... This is a very different strategy than Boeing had in the past. The way the company measures our performance is much more like I found at Motorola. The old lazy B is no more.. It really hasn't been that way since the late 90s... Sorry I was a jerk. I respect folks like you and I don't believe I can do what you do.. Sorry.

You are right I should of said. Boeing doesn't have a problem recruiting engineers unlike Microsoft, who has problems recruiting programmers.

Just because you post pictures of other people's bikes doesn't mean you know sh!t about motorcycles.

"i.e I rode 200 miles today"

Not bad. Not as impressive as riding 50 miles while your bike was in the shop, but not bad.

My first bike was a Maxim. Didn't mow down any Tommies with it, though.

If he's a good coder and he's in the Seattle area, let me know. I might be able to hook him up. There are tons of jobs here now though so if he's good it should be easy to find something.

I have to admit, watching a nerd, hair-pulling contest was exactly as boring as I thought it would be.
