The Rodney King video shocked everyone in the World that hadn't had dealings with the L.A.P.D..

In most incidents where a rider chooses to run, he panics, get going way in over his head, ends up crashing in a turn that he had no hope of making. The cop has been cruising behind (not actively chasing). He finds you and gives you felony tickets instead of a speeding ticket, calls the ambulance and the tow truck. The rest of your day pretty much sucks: your bike is trashed, you are injured, maybe seriously, and you may be facing jail time, The other scenario is you successfully avoid the high-speed driving award. This may lull you into a false sense of how easy it is to get away. Usually, sooner or later, those that try to evade the police are eventually relegated to scenario # 1. You pays yer money and makes yer choice.

Reminds me of being pulled over on my yellow Taxi K12rs a few years back. Got over ASAP when the lights flashed, got off my bike, pulled papers from under the seat and waited for the office to walk up.

He gets up to me and starts ranting about how they've been looking all over for me and my yellow "SUZUKI" sport bike that had been doing wheelies through traffic earlier.

I didn't even speak and just pointed to the BMW logo on the side of my bike.

He gives me a miffed look, tossing my paperwork back at me and jumps back into his cruiser tearing out into traffic.

Guess that Suzuki rider must have really pissed them off...

I think I just earned a medal.

Incidentally I had no intention of trying to foist the cop off on the other car, I was just trying to slow down and hide.

It's cheaper just to get a lawyer and get rid of the ticket. Maybe twice as much at the moment, but your insurance doesn't take the it.

So your point is that the legal speed limit should be 10 more? Or that there shouldn't be cops? Or that there shouldn't be speed limits? Or wait, you're just being a ****.

Best post!

What if you're doing it where lane splitting is illegal?

That's got to be the silliest thing, because where does he think he's going, anyway?

I didn't realize Key West had its own Police Dpt. - when I was down there a few weeks ago, all I saw were County cars every few miles.

Fair enough, but the message is mixed up.

He doesnt approve of his own behaviour, but wants to hear about even more 'incorrect' behaviour. Just seems weird. Maybe its just me.
