I never said anything about windows and embedded systems. Windows CE is working ok these days but I would certainly rather go the linux route. If I'm doing embedded systems I want to be able to recompile the kernel myself.

Anyway, thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Glad you think all cars and bikes will have flat screens in them. You should get a job on "Pimp my Ride".

Then you're not paying attention. You really should have changed your handle to kwrong, rather than applying that one to someone else.

"kpaul predicts flat screens with multiple modes (vies) will become the next thing in both cars and bikes."

Rather distracting, costly and utterly extraneous, no? As Car & Driver said of similar goofy crap in a Volvo, Or you could just use your eyes.

"Just look at the ****pit of any jet fighter or 787."

Yes, driver/rider education in this country is equivalent to jet pilot standards.

They should give him his own show: "Pimple on the Ass of my Ride".

All I know for sure is that it's Airbus or ground transport for me from now on.

I spent twenty years looking at multiple mode screens, and hated every minute of it. Rate of change is hard to detect, and you have to know what screen to go to next to pick up the story. This is ok (if disagreeable) for a nuclear powerplant or other type of control room, where more information than you can possibly use is available, just in case you find a need for it. In airplanes, it's a space utilization issue, I'm guessing, but on a motorcycle, it's just plain stupid. Always was, always will be.

Because they've been unusually profitable and efficient this year - SO, in order to avoid an artificially-low bandwidth-budget for NEXT year; we've decided to INCREASE our wasteful spending..............
