I'll second that. Or keep what you got.

Not a little Ducati like this one. Do yourself a favor and buy a used Montster with the 1000 dual-spark engine. You'll still be within budget and you'll get a lot more bike-- one that will do it all. the Monster 650 is just not enough bike unless it's strictly for the city.

For your use, I would recommend a lightly used Ducati Multistrada. Get the 1000cc model. You should be able to find one in your price range with low miles.

SV650S

Ditch the clip-ons for some converti-bars or similar adjustable higher bars and give corbin a call for a new seat and you'll be in business

For about $7500 you should be able to get a new Monster 695. If your anual milage is low you might be able to put off the valve adjustment for a few years.

Certainly, if you haven't considered the yzf600r, you should check it out. It fits right in with the rest of your list. It's fast enough and is very comfortable.

Replace the seat with a Sargent or Corbin saddle and the comfort on the SV won't be a problem.

I second the V-Strom 650. It's the best all-around bike I've owned... I've put about 16k a year on my '04 and it's comfortable, has the same rock solid SV650 engine, but offers better wind protection and riding position for commuting and touring. Drop on some better rubber and it's a decent psuedo-sportbike.
