Actually, the constitution is designed to protect us from Federal govt. overreaching, such as retrying someone for the exact same acts of which they have been acquitted in state court. Of course, the constitution has been a dead letter when it comes to individual and State's rights ever since the New Deal (many thanks FDR).

Default Psst.

Scroll down. Notice that idiotboy thinks the US Constitution protects the rights of the govt to retry citizens for the same act until it gets a conviction.

"I don't believe in calling the same act a bunch of different crimes. That's always stunk of double jeopardy to me. "

Exactly.

It's the "Let's throw buckets of shyt at the wall and see what sticks" style of prosecution.

Koward is koderating the posts on previous threads, too.

I really, really wish MO would ditch this feature. People say it doesn't matter, but it does - the threshold defaults to "1", and personally, I had no idea what that was for the first couple years I was here. Moderating down is effectively the same as censoring posts.

Default Wrong too.

Actually I think I will call seruzawa, kwrong. kzuki or should I call you kbigot, King's civil rights were violated. Double jeopardy has nothing to do with it

"It seemed like an open-and-shut case. The George Holliday video, played on television so often that an executive at CNN called it "wallpaper," showed three Los Angeles police officers--as their supervisor watched-- kicking, stomping on, and beating with metal batons a seemingly defenseless African-American named Rodney King. Polls taken shortly after the incident showed that over 90% of Los Angeles residents who saw the videotape believed that the police used excessive force in arresting King. Despite the videotape, a jury in Simi Valley concluded a year later that the evidence was not sufficient to convict the officers. Was the all-white jury racist, as some charged, or did they see something in the evidence that " Read More

Default Seruzawa is now called kwrong.

Wow now seruzawa, call him kwrong, is trying to unsuccessfully trying rewrite legal history. He already has tried unsuccessfully to rewrite the laws of physics...The Supreme Court in Koon vs U.S. has some really good facts and data about the question of double jeopardy... Must be a slow time in the compound for kwrong.

I was thinking the same thing but I guess what you say makes sense in a macabre way. He didn't seriously injure the guy, he killed him...

The driving on a suspended is strange though, what did they do, give him his license back after the crash ?
