If it's viable, it will be accepted.

If it's not, it will be promoted by dypshyts, who will claim it will solve every problem known to man and is not being allowed to because of a vast conspiracy by Big Oil and their servants in the GOP.

I'll let the market decide.

Great ..... so now, being referred to as pond s***** won't be an insult?

Some MO member will be here soon to let us know if it will work or not.

Re: Clean Air Plus More Fuel: Pond S***** to the Rescue!

It is sickening that we are now considering living organisms (no matter how low on the food chain) as being thought of to help sustain our oil lust. I donÂ’t think PETA will stand for this and I feel the Sierra Club will condemn this research as well.

We need to stop using and creating harmful resources.

Windmills kill thousands of innocent birds every year.

Oil destroys the environment.

Solar power takes precious land from cute little animals.

Biodiesel will force farming into untouched land eliminating pretty trees.

Hydro Power will eliminate fresh water for the fishes.

And now we are targeting Pond S*****! These innocent creatures have no voice of there own. We must protect them!

Re: Clean Air Plus More Fuel: Pond S***** to the Rescue!

I imagine that PETA will protest the killing of innocent pond s***** - the pond s***** has feelings too. We must end CO2 output, however. The first step is to eliminate all the people who exhale CO2. Since we won't have any more CO2, the trees and all other plants will also die, thus cleansing the earth of all living organisms. Environmentalists rule!

I love to get censored!

Re: Clean Air Plus More Fuel: Pond S***** to the Rescue!

Scummy Scumbags now fulfill a viable role in Society. When you can easily get biodiesel made from S***** that's been sucked from the top of a cesspool out of any Pet*****, people will laud them.

The_AirHawk 12-27-2006 07:33 AM

Re: Clean Air Plus More Fuel: Pond S***** to the Rescue!

Now, why did it censor Pet*****, and not Scummy Scumbags?

Dipshytes like...

Do you mean dipshytes like George W. Bush, who thinks hydrogen is the answer when it takes more energy to make hydrogen then you get from the resulting hydrogen fuel? Or dipshytes like the US Congress who subsidizes crowing corn with fossil fuel so we can turn it into ethanol which again takes more energy to make than it stores?

Your fabulous "free" market -- which by the way is a utopian concept just like Marx's utopian socialism, as it has never existed anywhere -- demands lots and lots of cheap oil, so now we're fighting a trillion-dollar war, which will turn into 3 trillion dollars when and if we ever pay off the massive debt we're going into. I won't even mention the daily slaughter of our troops. Oops, I just did.

We can let the so-called "market" (which really means corporate boards and industry-funded think tanks) keep making these seriously destructive choices for us, or we can subsidize R&D of this and other new alternative energies to the tune of way less than what we spend subsidizing all the worthless corn and soybeans that are polluting the environment and making us a bunch of cornsyrup-swilling fat pigs (gee, do you think corn being 2.5 cents a pound has anything to do with soaring childhood obesity rates and an epidemic of type-2 diabetes in kids? That's the market too. I guess we should just let all those kids die, unless you want them to be healthy enough to go fight in Iraq in 10 years).

I'm willing to support the cessation of government meddling with the market if you are. That will mean no more cheap oil, corn, roads and higher interest rates, as well as a plethora of things I could probably spend all day looking up, but you probably would rather have me finish our 2006 Naked Euro Bike test first.

There goes the thread. And we were doing such a good job at avoiding political threads over the past few weeks...

Make sure you include EVERY standard ever made, even if it wasn't in production in '06, or you're gonna catch hell.

It's totally fun. I play guitar so in some respects it makes it easier cuz I understand the timing, but in other respects it's nothing like playing a guitar.

Good fun though, especially if you crank the tunes through the surround sound.

It'll be ok once Cargil and ADM get out of corn and into pond s*****.... Imagine huge s***** farms in the desolate regions of the word pumping out bio fuel. Wow, then the Middle East wouldn't matter either. Could this save humankind and let us focus on the final frontier? Anybody selling their Cargill or ADM stock?

Best political post of the year. Good work Gabe

Yep Gabe is correct, in my Advanced Microeconomics class the professor said the closest thing to a free market in our economy is the agriculture market. The rest of the markets are of the oligopoly nature... So without government intervention like removing the favorable tax breaks for oil and gas companies and increasing tax breaks for alternative fuels, no progress in getting us middle eastern oil will happen.

Being a diabetic myself, Gabe is spot on his analysis. My endocrinologist says that the corn syrup used in soft drinks etc. is worse than sugar.

ksquid 12-27-2006 12:32 PM

The GMP, kpaul, does it again..

Great post mikenomad

When kpaul first introduced biodiesel to MO the usual suspects (GPTB) quickly ridiculed the idea. Hundreds of post of Kook bashing ensued. There were those who thought hydrogen was the answer. However, the most enlightened and reasonable GPTB member Buzglyd quickly pointed out the problem of where to get all of that energy needed to produce all of the required hydrogen. kpaul produced a University of New Hampshire study that did a comparison of hydrogen vs. biodiesel. In that study it was mentioned that biodiesel could be manufactured most efficiently from algae.

The spending on the Iraq war just passed $350 billion too bad we didn't invest in biofuels

ksquid 12-27-2006 12:35 PM

Correction should read

emoving the favorable tax breaks for oil and gas companies and increasing tax breaks for alternative fuels, no progress in getting us off of middle eastern oil will happen.

Certainly it would be more entertaining than listening to arguments about how business is so evilk and how much the govt protects us from those evil CEOs. Though how the govt which is entirely in the pockets of the corporations is going to protect us from those same corporations is never explained.

Micro may be the point to a bunch of your views.

BrowningBAR 12-27-2006 01:20 PM

Re: Dipshytes like...

You get the "business is evil", "government is evil", "Repubs are evil", "Demos are evil", and "anyone that doesn't agree with me is evil" crowds. And yet, EVERYONE still votes doen the party line. You know what's gonna happen when a demo gets in office? More of the same, people. More of the same. Than a Repub will get back into office, and still yet, more of the same.

Good job everyone.

Fenton 12-27-2006 01:22 PM

BTW

There is no question that we are poisoning ourselves and our kids with the food/drinks. I get so sick of all the diet stuff. Don't be a pig and exercise.

You may have a big advantage in July if buzz sits at home playing guitar hero and drinking cokes.
