Default Re: The GMP, kpaul, does it again..

Here's a Legitimate Question that's been nagging at me lately;

If spending in Iraq has just now topped $350-billion, yet people are throwing-around numbers in the 2 to 3 Trillion range, where are they coming-up with these numbers? Because, even if you DOUBLE that $350b -- you're still nowhere near a Trillion dollars.

I really want to know. This is not some partisan wiseacre crack at The Kook or something along those lines. This much money is far, far more than I am ever likely to fondle if you added-up the value of everything I ever even came in contact with -- but I DO have a pretty good idea of the magnitude of this amount.

If the Buell wins a naked Euro test we're going to have to include a geography lesson on MO.

Default E85 is more CAFE BS

Have you noticed GM and the others falling all over themselves to produce E85 flex fuel vehicles? Do you think it's because of customer demand?

Here's the deal. For light truck CAFE standards (which I think are more bs gov't intrusion in the market as well) only the portion of GAS that is burned is counted in the CAFE mileage. So, if a vehicle can burn 85% ethanol it really helps out when calculating Corporate Average Fuel Economy and levying the subsequent penalties.

He was a junior cadet firefighter for 6 seasons. Does that count?

Hey, he fought fires once. That's why, with his logic, he's one of the few people who should be allowed to have firefighters come put out his house fire. The rest of us non-firefighters have to do it ourselves.

Speaking of average fuel economy; have you seen the reports of the hybrid cars miles per gallon have been grossly exaggerated?

Wow. The "chickenhawk" argument coming from a guy who pimps biodiesel and doesn't own a biodiesel car. That's more irony than a full season of The Twilight Zone.
