Up here in Washington the most effective add for democrats is to show a picture of their Republican competitor getting off Air Force One with W. In WA state W. has a less than 30% approval rating. Some polls put it down at 25%

Iraq in civil war. (thousands killed billions of $ wasted)

No energy policy.

Massive budget deficits

Congressional pedofiles.

Enron buddies convicted.

Higher interest rates.

More outsourcing.

Massive trade deficit.

So much negative stuff the Dems can use.

Default Re: Where Does Gasoline Come From?

Except that the US is going to start IMPORTING natural gas soon.

You are better burning the natural gas.

Let me explain.

natural gas is mostly methane. Methane is CH4.

CH4 + 2 O2 -> 2H20 + 2CO2 if you have prefect combustion. You get energy from both the H2 combining with the O2 and the C combining with the O2. It takes energy to strip the Carbon from the CH4 . So buy creating H2 from CH4 you are producing MORE pollution and less energy.

Not to mention that H2 must then be compressed and or cooled to be stored which then takes a LOT of energy.

So yea this is a classic bad idea if you understand a little chemistry and physics.

It does look good on paper.

Maybe they can fit all the Honda hybrids with left over 23 inch front wheels...

plus we're all a bunch of bleeding heart tax and spend lefty-pinko-tree huggers who, though we live in one of the highest income and standard of living states are still kind enough to carry the tax ball for the red state hill scroggins who cost more in hand outs than they contribute in tax's

So let me get this straight:

a) you agree with me about what I said.

b) you disagree with me about something I've never said.

batteries SUCK.

Sorry to put it that bluntly but I am working on a project that uses them. They are a nightmare to deal with, The energy density is much lower than any hydrocarbon and they wear out.

If people really wanted to fix the co2 emissions problem right now there are a few simple steps.

1. Nuclear. Yes I have a plant in my town. I am fine with it in my back yard. Better that than a coal plant.

Replace all the fossil fuel power plants with Nuclear. That would reduce the carbon output by leaps and bounds.

2. Use wind and solar as supplements to the grid.

3. Us hydrogen for energy storage and transport. It is possible to combine hydrogen with atmospheric carbon to make natural gas. Use solar, and wind to make methane and then use that in homes for heating or for fleet vehicles.

Use hydrocarbons for the things that hydrocarbons are good for. Cars, planes, motorcycles.

Of course I don't think that people really want to cut carbon emissions. Everyone wants to look like they are doing something or they want SOMEBODY ELSE to do something..

Want to cut Carbon? Plant trees, scrap your SUV and or truck, or at least replace all your light bulbs with compact fluorescent.

You're ruining my high with all those facts.

I want to feel good and give mother earth a nice warm hug.

Facts ruin all that.

Can you just see the No Nukes crowd from the 70s having to get on board with nuclear energy?

It just cracks me up that their opposition to nuclear energy has led to more carbon based energy and CO2 in the atmosphere.

I can't stop laughing.
