Re: Eric Putter Named Editor of RoadBike Magazine.

This site is getting to me. I was reading Motorcyclist yesterday and wanted to comment on someting I'd read, but of course it's a magazine, written three months ago and pointless to comment. I still prefer the pitures in the magazines though.

Re: Eric Putter Named Editor of RoadBike Magazine.

Road Bike has always seemed like a magazine in search of a market. This is the third editor in as many years. I have an odd feeling that the editor has to put up with a lot of back seat editing, since they always put some hack job, semi-chopper bike on the cover, while the inside usually has some good stuff. So what is the target, guys who like strange stuff?

And where is the delightful Jessica Procup these days?

Jessica, is now with Discover Today's Motorcycling, which is the marketing arm of the Motorcycle Industry Council (the MSf is tied in here too). From what I understand, she will be working on advancing womens sides of things in the motorcycle world. DTM is in CA, so I guess I relocate from CT to CA is on order.

P.S. Your thoughts on TAM, the publisher of Road Bike, etc are correct from what I've heard. The magazine defintely got "sportier" while Jessica was there though, which I believe is positive.

It has to be good karma when a guy named Putter runs a motorcycle magazine.

She was too much of a lightweight and political. I for one am glad she's gone. Hopefully Eric will do a better job.

All metric? I guess that leaves us Whitworth guys out.

I honestly don't remember the poilitical part, though I amidt I stopped subscribing a few years back. Too many mags every month and some had to go- Cycle World and Roadbike. I guess by lightweight you mean hear relative newbie-ness and not her dimunitive size.

Re: Eric Putter Named Editor of RoadBike Magazine.

About a year ago, Roadbike had an issue where they were very preachy about Katrina and donating money, and helmet issues as well (I do wear a helmet). It seemed like a very socialist slanted pub that month. I swore I would never buy Roadbike again and I have not. If I want politics, I read The Standard or something like that or if I want to be preached to, I'll go to church. On top of it, it seemed like she took up bikes to write for the Magazine. WTF. Not that the previous idiot did any better. At least Mark Zimmerman, the previous tech editor got out and went to a real magazine. There's not much talent there.

Cool. I hope you get the magazine in shape, it used to be an ok pub. I like Bob Feather, and Fred Rau is good too. Keep it about bikes, what we do with them, and may be I'll read it again. Mark Zimmerman is one of the best tech editors out there. I would only put Kevin Cameron slightly ahead, and that's good company to be in. May be he could do MC and Roadbike.
