The Gold Wing is a sexy engine? I guess my tastes are a bit differnent than that. Kawi triple, Duc single. 850 Commando (we are talking sexy, not reliable, right?).

Default As opposed to ohc I-4 engines not being modern?

First v-twin internal combustion engine was built in 1889; the first I-4 internal combustion engine built in 1890. Wow, one whole year difference!

First overhead valve engine built in 1912 by Peugeot, which I believe was an overhead cam design.

Yep, the I-4 overhead cam engine sure is ‘very modern’ compared to a V-Twin.

If you really want to see their heads explode tell them that Mercedes was racing DOHC 4-valve engines in the 1930s.

As I recall, fuel injection originated in diesel engine design and was extended to gasoline engines used in aircraft so that combat planes could fly inverted. Later someone figured out that you could use a computer to control injection and eliminate the complexity of mechanical injection in gasoline engines. Once again... not invented by any Japanese company.

So many idiots think the Japanese invented all this "modern technology". The sad state of education today... tsk tsk.

One wonders what they would make of the Moto Guzzi V8 GP engine......

Some one gave me a 71 CB350 a couple of weeks ago ( "it was running last time i rode it") and looking at it last night it hit me what a nice looking motor it was. Unlike my KLR650 or 98 Sprint. Now my 77 Guzzi LeMans motor.......

AH yes, I have a 71 CB and a 70 CL. Look at the motor, with its nice exhaust header fins, the symetrical cam cover, rounded cylinder fins. Finned sump. I think a 350 twin motor looks better than a Triumph twin myself.

This guy hasn't discovered Bultaco either I guess.

I'm more partial to the old CB450 engine. It was my second choice motorcyle, just after the W2650SS, when I had to pick one up when my destroyer squadron left Yokosuka for Dago.
