We shouldn't have to take driver's tests before getting driver's licenses either. That way not only do we not know how to ride our bikes safely before we get on the road, the cagers won't know how to drive their vehicles either (not that they do now) and we can really have a free-for-all!

I think training all ages is logical and would probably keep a lot of older people from hopping on that dream bike, getting their license and going off and getting killed. Of course, this happens as much to many of the teenagers who take the class (in Wisconsin you have to take the class if you're under 18 if I remember right, and since I'm not 18 I had to even though I planned on it).

Training will save lives, if people aren't stupid.

The fact that FL is trying to force this issue is a problem. I'd almost bet that there are not enough trainers for the current work load in that state. Passing a law that mandates the training will only stress the MSF courses, trainers and directors. There simply are not enough people to do the job. What the state really needs is a driving test that has the DMV employees riding (there own bikes) with the motorcyclist in real world conditions. Just like England.

So typical of ABATE.. I can't wait till the baby boomers get too old to ride... So typical GPTB*.. You have to take flight training and ground school to become a pilot... why not motorcycles ? Oh I forgot real bikers (read cruier riders) like longride, Buz, etc don't need no stinkin training...

Default ABATE is a bunch of wankers...

I really can't stand the notion of ABATE.

If I was Lord of the Universe, you'd have to take some serious training for both car and motorcycle liscences, with gradiated liscencing for both.

Why in the world would anyone expect a good result from a big beuracracy such as a state government? Wake up people the answer to everything is not more state mandated programs! If people are concerned about their personal saftey they will seek out and find training for their chosen activity. The notion that throwing more money at the problem under the auspisous of government control and expecting an adequate soultion is just plain stupid. What in the hell does government do well anyway?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
