While it's cool, it strikes me as a $1000 solution to a problem I never had.

As well as being an answer to a problem most people don't have, the counter-rotating mechanism adds unsprung weight, which is just what you don't need.

They tried this before in the 80's or early 90's in GP I think. Can't remember what manufacturer (bimota, maybe?), I just know I've seen them before. If they were as great as this guy says they are don't you think everyone would have them?

Yes, of course! Because all good ideas are already in use, and ideas that were good but not well implemented never get improved upon.

Why not reverse rotating wheels too? And reversed seats - like the Clinton administration (maybe it was Carter) proposed and the handlebars on the rear wheel. This would get you away from accidents real fast since you would be traveling in the other direction.

That's all I need. More stuff to go wrong. And what if a little yapper dog or a fouton or something gets stuck in those gears?

It'll be like the ill-fated Douglas XA2D Skyshark and explode in a rain of gears and pins and yapper dogs and foutons.

I miss drum brakes anyway. Bring back the drum.
